Fairtrade Fortnight 2026
Monday 21st September - Sunday 4th October
The theme for this year's Fairtrade Fortnight is 'DO IT FAIR' with a particular emphasis on tea production and how we can support Fairtrade tea producers in our shopping, in our awareness-raising and ion our campaigning.
With the world in a tailspin, fairness isn’t a given. But the power to get there is in our hands. Together, our actions can have a positive impact on real people’s lives.

Fairtrade Fortnight in Cumbria
Arnside

The Arnside group will be contributing a gallery of photographs to the Arnside Archive
Windermere and Bowness

The group will be doing Fairtrade activities with the Windermere Brownie group

Gatesbield retirement community will focus on Fairtrade for their residents’ coffee morning

St. Martin’s Church will hold Fairtrade coffee mornings on both Sundays and display some Fairtrade products as well
Keswick

The Keswick group will have a 10-minute slot at services in all Keswick churches

The group is also planning to repeat last year’s poetry project, this time with Threlkeld and Bassenthwaite Schools

The group will also manage table displays of Fairtrade products in the Lakes & Dales and Booths supermarkets

The group has organised a screening of Black Gold at the Alhambra Cinema in Keswick at 2pm on Wednesday 23rd September
Kendal

Marianne will be running a coffee morning at Sandylands Methodist Church as well as delivering an assembly at Stramongate School

The group will also manage a table display of Fairtrade products in Marks & Spencers

The group will also be running a pop-up shop in The Space on Finkle Street
Carlisle

Members of the Carlisle Fairtrade group along with members of the CFTN steering group have collaborated on an article about Fairtrade for church newsletters

The group has also organised a Fairtrade trail around Carlisle City Centre starting next Monday 21st September and running till 2pm on Saturday 3rd October with students. A fantastic prize from the Co-op of a £50 voucher is on offer for the winning entry! (Poster and downloadable map here)

Also during Fairtrade Fortnight, Carlisle Fairtrade Group would like to invite schools from the Carlisle and North Cumbria area to come together on Thursday 1st October at 4pm for a meeting of the North Cumbria Schools Network - more information and meeting link here
