Fair trade fashion show inspires Colby women to chose responsibly made clothing!

A very successful fair trade fashion show was held in Colby Village Hall, attended by Colby and District WI.

The ladies of the WI modelled the fair trade clothes and accessories. Some of these items included those that were made from organically grown cotton, which uses less water and no harmful chemicals.

Many very pretty outfits were shown, and the models were enticed to buy several dresses and skirts, even some of the models who said they only wore trousers!

Victoria of Castlegate, Penrith, has been selling fair trade clothing and gifts for over 30 years and has organised many fashion shows, including those where the youngest model was two years old and others where the upper age range has been in to the 80s.

The WI provided a splendid tea and asked Victoria if she would judge their 'Prettiest Brooch' competition.

The WI were one of the original instigators of Fairtrade and groups in Cumbria are very supportive of the campaign within the county
