Get ready for Fairtrade Fortnight 2020!

Around Cumbria, local Fairtrade groups are getting ready to host a variety of events to celebrate the fantastic work and campaigning for a fair price for farmers. Fairtrade Fortnight begins on Monday 24 February and ends on Sunday 8 March. Here is a sample of some of the events taking place that you are very welcome to join in with.

Keswick launch of Fairtrade Fortnight - Sunday 23 February

Join Keswick and District Fair Trade Campaign and Keswick Churches Together for a Church service to launch Fairtrade Fortnight in Keswick. The service will be held at Keswick's Methodist Church between 6.00pm and 7.00pm

Ulverston Relaunch Fairtrade in the town - Monday 24 Feburary

Join Greener Ulverston for a friendly brainstorming session to work out what the town can do to support the Fairtrade movement and regain the town's Fairtrade status. Join them at Natterjack's Coffee House at 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

Tea and Coffee afternoon at Lakehead Court, Keswick - Tuesday 25 February

Keswick and District Fair Trade Campaign invite you to tea and coffee at the Lakehead Court. There will also be Fairtrade items for sale.

Fairtrade producer visit - 26-28 February Cumbria Fairtrade groups will be hosting a coffee farmer from Peru from 26th-28th February. He has a series of events with schools and organisations in Kendal, Windermere and Carlisle. Keep an eye out for where you can meet him through these organisations. Caldbeck Pub quiz - Wednesday 26th February

Join Caldbeck Fairtrade Group for their Fairtrade Fortnight pub quiz. It's being kindly hosted by the Oddfellows Arms in Caldbeck and will run from 7.00pm with the quiz lasting from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Teams can be made up of up to six people, and it is £5.00 a person, which includes refreshments. You can buy your tickets from the Oddfellows Arms and Kirkland Stores in Caldbeck or The Village Stores in Hesket Newmarket.

Meet Hugo, a Peruvian Fairtrade Coffee Farmer, in Carlisle - Friday 28 February

Hugo Javier Guerrero is joining Carlisle Fairtrade for a special opportunity to learn more about Fairtrade coffee. The event is being held at John Watt & Sons Coffee House from 9.00am to 10.00am. Find out more here. Millom Fairtrade Local and Global Annual Supper Evening - Friday 28 February

Millom's Fairtrade group is holding their annual supper evening during Fairtrade Fortnight on Friday 28 February. The three course hot buffet will be supplied by Warren from 'Trackside Cafe & Bar' and tickets are £10 per head. If you're interested- find out more on their Facebook group page here.

Keswick Fairtrade Group Stall at Keswick Market - Saturday 29 February

Find Keswick Fairtrade Group at the town's market selling Fairtrade produce in aid of the Fairtrade campaign.

CDEC Coffee and Cake afternoon - Wednesday 4 March

Drop in to Low Nook, Rydal Road from 1.00pm to 4.00pm for some coffee and cake in aid of the Fairtrade Fortnight celebrations. This is hosted by Cumbria Development Education Centre (CDEC).
